Richard E. Nash, retired city administrator for Calvert City, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, at his home.

He was 73.

Mr. Nash was a native of Owensboro and was the son of William Edison Nash and Mable Speak Nash.

After his retirement, he continued to serve as a member of the Calvert City Planning Commission for several years.

Mr. Nash was also employed by the cities of Murray, Princeton and Paducah.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1964-1967. He was a graduate of Murray State University and University of Southwest Louisiana.

He served as president of the Kentucky City Managers Association from 1997-1999.

Mr. Nash attended Calvert City United Methodist Church and served on the board of trustees for a short time before his illness.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kay Williams Nash of Calvert City; two sons, Jordan Edison Nash of New Orleans and Ian Alexander Nash of Draffenville; two brothers, William Nash of Grand Rivers and Jeffrey Nash of Paducah; one aunt, Beatrice Worthington of Jacksonville, Fla.; three nephews and two nieces; three great-nephews and two great-nieces.

A funeral service was held Sunday, Nov. 25, at Calvert City United Methodist Church. Rev. Eddie Bromley and Mayor Lynn Jones officiated.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvert City United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to Lourdes Hospice.
