Staff Report

The Tribune-Courier, WCBL and WCCK will team up to Feed The Need this Saturday at local grocery stores.

Representatives from the media outlets, along with members of the Marshall County Rotary Club and Needline volunteers, will be on hand at several Marshall County food stores to accept donations to help stock the Marshall County Needline in preparation for the holiday season.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the following locations: King Brothers in Benton and Draffenville, Save-A-Lot, Food Giant in Draffenville and Calvert City, Family Dollar in Calvert City, and Marshall’s IGA in Possum Trot.

Venita Fritz, General Manager of The Tribune-Courier, said Needline has recently noted an increased need from people requesting assistance.

“This is the third year we’ve sponsored the event and it continues to grow. said Fritz. “We hope people will come out again this year to help those less fortunate. Needline is always busiest this time of year and anything we can do to help as a community is always appreciated by their staff and the recipients.”

Those wishing to donate to Feed The Need may visit the store on the day of the event and make a purchase. A list of needed non-perishable items will be available at the store.

Anyone wishing to make a cash donation to Feed The Need can contact The Tribune Courier at 527-3162 WCBL/WCCK at 527-3102. All cash donations will be used to purchase food items at one of Marshall County’s locally owned grocery stores participating in the event.
