Richard “Dick” Dykes, 97, of Paducah died Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
A native of Sequatchie Valley, Tenn., he was a member of Central Church of Christ and was retired from Covington Bros. Wholesale Grocry. He also worked for Rhodes Burford Furniture and Sam’s Club.
Survivors include daughters Barbara Barnhill of Paragould, Ark., Judith Peck of Calvert city, and Saundra D. Hamlin of Paducah; sons Donald Dykes of Grand Rivers and Richard Dykes of Calvert City; stepdaughters Wanda Mueller Perry of Paducah and Yvonne Herndon of Georgia; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, Hazel Rose Dykes; second wife, Lois McManus Dykes; a son, Charles Dykes; his parents, Sanders and Lucy Fredrick Dykes; one sister; three brothers; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was Friday, Oct. 5. Jim Faughn officiated. Burial was in Maplelawn Cemetery.
