MC, Hendrickson finish 10th in state tourney

Marshall County’s Lady Marshals and sophomore Cayce Hendrickson ended up 10th in team and individual standings as the KHSAA girls state golf tournament concluded Wednesday at Bowling Green Country Club.

Sacred Heart won the team title for the second year in a row, pulling away from runner-up Calloway County and medalist Anna Hack on the second day.

Hendrickson shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday and stood second, four strokes behind Hack, in individual standings.

She slipped in the second round, carding an 83 for a 155 total. She finished in a three-way tie for 10th place with two other 10th-graders, Olivia Cason of Owensboro Catholic and Madison Thomas of Shelby County.

Marshall County, which was in a tie for sixth place after the first round, slid from a 347 first-day score to 362 on Wednesday. The 709 composite was a single stroke behind ninth-place North Laurel.

Bailey Tyree had the second-best effort for the Lady Marshals, carding a 79-84 – 163 to finish in a group of five at that score.

Other Lady Marshals and their scores were Charlstyn Beard, 95-95 – 190; Devan Doss, 101-102 – 203; and Ashley McKenty, Marshall County, 107-100 – 207.
