The Lady Marshals are hoping the Reed Conder Gymnasium reaches capacity on the evening of October 13. They will be hosting a celebrity basketball game to raise money for their tournament in Hawaii this December.

“We’re over halfway there and we’re hoping this event takes care of the rest” Joseph Simmons, Lady Marshals Head Coach, said, regarding funding efforts. “We talked about going to Hawaii well over a year ago. We wanted to reward the girls for making it back to the top.”

The girls will be in Hawaii for one week and are guaranteed at least four games. Along with teams from Hawaii and other states, the girls will also have the opportunity to play two teams from Canada.

The fundraiser basketball game next Saturday will be between two different teams of celebrities. The guest team is the Harlem Globetrotter Alumni vs. The Marshall County Celebrities, which features a lineup of former Lady Marshals and coaches, along with a few Marshall County “celebrities.”

“I’m honored to support the team,” Jeremy Rose, player for the Marshals, said, “It’s going to be a lot of fun and our team is going to be good. I’m not sure how I got chosen, but I started training.”

The basketball game will start at 6:00 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:00 p.m. Children 12 and under will have the opportunity to play with and learn tricks from the Globetrotter Alumni before the game starts. During and prior to the game a silent auction, autograph sessions, free throw shoot-out contests and other activities will be taking place.

Marshall memorabilia and the Krazy Lady’s cookbook will also be for sale. General admission tickets are $10 and available at the middle schools, the high school’s Athletic office, CFSB branches and WCBL. For more information phone 527-1453.
