DRAFFENVILLE – Marshall County’s Lady Marshals thumped Paducah Tilghman 2-0 in the only high school volleyball action of the past week involving area teams.
Coach Dan Langhi’s team takes a 10-7 record, 3-2 in District 4, into a Thursday night match at Ballard Memorial.
The Lady Marshals lost their season opener to the Lady Bombers by a 3-1 score at home Aug. 9, but defeated Ballard 2-0 Aug. 11 in the Apollo Invitational tournament in Owensboro.
Ballard is atop the Region 1 standings with a 17-2 record. Their only other loss came to Tates Creek of Lexington the same day of their defeat at the hands of Marshall County.
On Thursday night, Marshall completed a sweep of home-and-home matches against Tilghman. The Lady Tornado offered little resistance in falling by 25-5 and 25-9 scores.
Marshall County defeated Tilghman 25-12, 25-10 at Tilghman Aug. 21.
Christian Fellowship, 11-3 (4-1), has two home games this week after a week off. The Lady Eagles meet Murray tonight at 7 o’clock and renew their rivalry with Community Christian of Paducah Thursday at 5 p.m.
Both games are District 4 games. Murray brings a 4-13 record into the match, with one victory in six district contests, but CCA is 10-3, 6-0, including a 3-2 win in CFS’s season opener in Paducah Aug. 14. Scores for that match were 25-17, 23-25, 27-25, 21-25, 15-12.
