Benton native Glendon Kelley Copeland, 95, of Atwood, Tenn., died Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tenn.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in both the U.S. Army and Air Force. He was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.
Son of Lemor A. Copeland and Edna Kelley Copeland, he is survived by daughter Glenna Faye Capps of Atwood, Tenn.; sister Ela May Vaughn of Benton; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lowell Copeland, Robert Copeland, Thad Copeland, Horace Copeland and Aaron Copeland; and sisters Mattie Copeland, Mary Copeland, Flora Copeland and Zula Freeman.
The funeral service was Monday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m. in the Collier Funeral Home Chapel in Benton. Bro. David Brasher officiated. Interment with military honors followed in Hillcrest Cemetery.
