John Less Dees, 86, of Calvert City, KY died Sunday, Sept. 2, at Lake Way Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Benton.
He was a retired pipefitter with B.F. Goodrich Chemical Company and Westlake Polymers of Calvert City. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Calvert City First Baptist Church.
He is survived by daughter Leslie Jane Gray of Benton; son John Christopher Dees of Jasper, Ind.; two grandchildren; and brother Fred Thomas Dees Jr. of Calvert City.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane Allgood Dees and sister Daisy Martha Pierce. Also preceding in death were his parents, Fred Thomas Dees Sr., and Martha Covington Dees.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 1 p.m. at Dees Cemetery in Calvert City. Bro. Charles Frazier will officiate.
Friends may visit with the family after 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
