Barbara Ann Canup, 78, of Benton died Thursday, July 19, at Murray Calloway County Hospital.

Daughter of Rufe P. and Winne Lovett Burkeen, Mrs. Canup was a member of Owens Chapel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Canup, and a brother, Donald Burkeen.

Survivors include sons Johnny Canup of Reidland, Tim Canup of Wadesboro and Tom Canup; daughter Debra Overby of Benton; brothers Rufe P. (Bill) Burkeen Jr. of Dexter, Edison Burkeen of Hardin and James Ronald Burkeen of Murray; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held July 20 at Imes-Miller Funeral Home. Bro. Jimmy Strom officiated. Interment was in Gore Cemetery.
