This morning Kent Barlow entered a guilty plea in Marshall County Circuit Court in connection to the March 10 incident in which his former girlfriend was assaulted, held against her will and had shots fired around her throughout the course of a terror-filled evening.

As first reported by The Tribune-Courier last week, Barlow entered into a plea agreement with the Commonwealth Attorney after a mediation session involving the victim, Barlow, attorneys for both and law enforcement who investigated the incident.

Barlow pleaded guilty to 4th degree assault, domestic violence with minor injuries, 1st degree wanton endangerment and 1st degree unlawful imprisonment.

Barlow's Attorney, Emily Roark, was by Barlow's side as he entered his plea. Mark Bryant, who had also represented him, could not be in court today due to the death of his mother.

Under the terms of the plea agreement Barlow will receive 12 months incarceration for the assault charge, and five years each for the unlawful imprisonment and wanton endangerment charges. The two five-year sentences will run consecutively and the 12 month sentence will run concurrent to the others, for a total of ten years in prison. He also can have no contact with the victim

Given time already served, Barlow could be free in 18 months.

Circuit Judge Dennis Foust set sentencing for August 31st at 8:30 a.m.
