John Godwin Gay, 86, of Benton died Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. A native of Armorel, Ark., he was a retired chemical operator for Air Products in Calvert City. He was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He was the son of the late John Wesley Gay and the late Ruby Deane (Godwin) Gay.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Grillo) Gay, of Benton; daughters Diana L. Duncan of Benton, Cynthia Jeanette Cavitt of, Paducah, Carolyn Rose Hottinger of Louisville and Kathleen Webb of Lexington; son John Richard Gay of Benton; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Marshall County Memory Gardens. Bro. Joel Frizzell will officiate.

Visitation will be held after 11 a.m .on Friday, Aug. 3, at Collier Funeral Home.
