DRAFFENVILLE – The Lady Marshal Classic expands from four to eight teams this year, a highlight of the 2012 schedule announced by coach Michael Boone.

Among regular season matches, Bowlng Green High returns to the slate.

Other opponents will include University Heights Academy of Hopkinsville and Louisville Male.

“I’m happy to bring North Oldham in from Louisville this year after playing them to a 3-3 tie last year at their place,” Boone said.

Daviess County and Madisonville remain mainstays in the tournament and Greenwood returns after not participating for a couple of years.

Up-and-coming programs Henderson, Calloway and Henry County round out the tournament.

The Lady Marshals will travel to Bowling Green to take on the 2011 Final Four participant Purples.

“This will be our first regular-season game with them in over a decade and our first return to their field since winning the sectional game in 2007, sending us to our last Final Four appearance,” Boone said.

The district will offer a stern test, as well.

“Our district, I believe will prove to be one of the more competitive in the state,” Boone said.

“Murray and Graves will both be solid teams again this year and I expect Calloway to be much improved as well.”

The team will meet some new competition in the Daviess County Invitational in Holy Cross and Rowan County.

n NOTE: Tryouts for the varsity and junior varsity soccer teams will be held beginning Monday, July 16, at the high school.
