of a Tennessee man shortly after his involvement in a hit and run
collision in McCracken County. The McCracken County Sheriff's Office
received a report of a hit and run on Interstate 24 near the 15 mile
marker at approximately 12:19 PM on Monday afternoon. A silver Mercedes
was reported to have struck a vehicle in the rear on the interstate and
continued east. The Kentucky State Police were notified to patrol the
area for the Mercedes which was later located parked on the eastbound
shoulder, near the 23 mile marker in Calvert City. Upon inspection of the vehicle,
Troopers discovered the driver, Gilbert Pearsall, dead of an apparent
self-inflicted gunshot wound. State Police detectives were called to
the scene and discovered items in the vehicle linking Pearsall to the
Nashville, Tennessee area.
After speaking with Nashville authorities, it was learned that Pearsall
was suspected of killing his estranged wife early Monday morning. Vickie
Pearsall was found dead at a dental office where she worked as a
receptionist in the Green Hills area of Nashville around 7:00 AM. The
husband, Gilbert Pearsall, was being sought in connection for the
murder. Kentucky State Police are investigating Gilbert Pearsall's
death as a suicide and continue to work closely with the Metro Nashville
Police to assist with their murder investigation.
