He retired from pest control with Terminex.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Carol Cox Clapp of Benton; two daughters, Julie Vinson of Paducah, and Jenny Bonner of Lithia, Fla.; four sons, Dirk Clapp and Billy Clapp both of Calvert City, Douglas Clapp of Jacksonville, N.C. and Donald Clapp of Sharpe; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and step-father, Fred James of Ark.
He was preceded in death by one son, David Clapp. His parents were Freeman Clapp and Jewell King Clapp.
A private family memorial service was held on Monday, May 21, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rev. Trad York officiated.
