The Rev. Charles and Roma Simmons of Mayfield will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception at High Point Baptist Church in Mayfield, Saturday, May 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. All family and friends are invited to attend, only out-of-town invitations are being sent. The couple requests no gifts.

Rev. and Mrs. Simmons were married May 24, 1952 in Corinth, Miss. They had a double wedding with Lucian and June Nanney.

Mrs. Simmons is the former Roma June Riley of Melber. She is the daughter of the late Johnny Greenville and Florence Etta Parker Riley. She served as the secretary for the Graves County Baptist Association before retiring and is a homemaker.

Rev. Simmons is the son of the late Lawrence and Lona Mae Cruse Simmons of Melber. He has served in ministry for over 50 years including pastoring Baptist churches in Christian, Union, Marshall, Calloway and Graves counties in western Kentucky. Rev. Simmons retired as the Director of Missions for the Graves County Baptist Association. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces and is a Korean War veteran.

The couple have four children, Rick Simmons of Palmersville, Tenn., Tonya Thompson of Puryear, Tenn., Shanna Burgess of Murray, Sonia Simmons and the late Jerry Simmons of Mayfield.

They have five grandchildren: Justin Simmons and Kaci Simmons both of Benton, Whitney Simmons of Murray. Dalton Simmons of Mayfield, Brooke Burgess of Murray and two great-grandchildren.
