BRIENSBURG – A local woman was found dead Friday night after emergency responders were dispatched to 547 Briensburg-Tatumsville Road around 10 p.m. According to autopsy results, Stacey Gipson, 47, died as a result of smoke inhalation.
Gipson lived at the residence with her daughter and two grandchildren. Gipson’s family was not home at the time of the fire.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is conducting an investigation, but foul play is not suspected. Investigators have not determined how the fire began.
On Friday, nearly two dozen firefighters from Palma-Briensburg, East Marshall and Gilbertsville fire departments responded. The Marshall County Rescue Squad and sheriff’s department were also on scene. Responders attempted to extinguish the blaze for 45 minutes, but the mobile home received extensive damage.
