Calvert City home destroyed by fire

Firefighters for Calvert City and Gilbertsville fire departments were the first to respond to a house fire at 806 Dogwood Street in Calvert City over night Sunday. Palma-Briensburg Fire Department also responded. Home owners were alerted to the fire by their 12 year-old grandson. The youth woke up smelling smoke, and alerted his grandparents. Everyone, including a dog, was able to exit the house safely. Calvert City Police noticed the fire shortly after 2 a.m. and alerted the fire department. The fire is believed to have started in the back bedroom.
