Some participants traveled some five hours from Rockcastle County in eastern Kentucky to participate.
“We were able to help them with a free night’s lodging from Ken Bar Inn,” said Nicole Thomas, parent sponsor of the MCHS Bass Club.
The top three teams received trophies and prize packages donated by the Army National Guard, plus rain suits, die-cast model boats, tool kits, gift certificates from Domino’s and Pizza Hut, Berkley Fishing rods and fishing line.
“Thank you to all the boat captains that volunteered their time to take the kids fishing,” Thomas said, noting that adult operators are required for these event. “Without the boat captains, high school fishing would not be possible.”
