BENTON – On February 25, Sgt. Eddie McGuire observed a vehicle pass by him on 5th Street that was driving between the right lane and middle turn lane. The car behind the vehicle abruptly pulled in next to Sgt. McGuire and advised that the vehicle had been weaving previously and nearly caused an accident.

Sgt. McGuire then conducted a traffic stop in the Wal-Mart parking lot, noticing an immediate smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle. As the driver, Suzanne Nicole Edwards, 36, exited the vehicle, a small empty bottle of vanilla extract containing 35 percent alcohol per the label was located under her leg.

Edwards, of Calvert City, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence and lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
