Effie Irene Spurlin, 94, of Benton, died Sunday, February 5, at her home.

Irene worked as a sales clerk at J.L. Hudson Department Store in Michigan and was a member of the North Marshall Church of Christ.

She is survived by one son, Gary Don Spurlin and his wife Brenda of Houston, Texas; one granddaughter, Jill Spurlin Mostek of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; one grandson, Christopher Spurlin of Fenton, Mich.; one sister, Edrie Hancock of Benton; and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James N. Spurlin; five sisters, Marguerite Arant, Eula Harper, Lola Haywood, Ruth Wilson and Mamie Dunn; and three brothers, Marvin Dunn, Hubert Dunn and Roy Dunn. Her parents were Edd Marion Dunn and Effie Caroline English Dunn.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. February 9, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in the Wilson Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. February 8, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory.
