MAYFIELD – A 30-point fourth quarter explosion wasn’t quite good enough for Marshall County, which fell 63-60 to Graves County Friday night in a high school basketball game at Graves’ Eagles Nest Friday night.



The upset snapped a 12-game winning streak for the 22-2 Marshals, who lost Dec. 29 to Montgomery County.



A furious Marshal rally sliced a 43-30 third-quarter deficit to 50-49 with 3:29 left to play and to 52-51 at the 2:45 mark, both times on baskets by Chase Clark. But Graves ran off five straight points and the Marshals never got closer than three the rest of the way.



The three-point gap came on a free throw by Chase York with 8.7 seconds left. York missed the second free throw and the Marshals rebounded, but Peter Northcutt’s attempt to tie the game with a three-pointer from the left corner bounced off the rim.



Clark led the Marshals with 19 points. Cole Nelson added 14 and York 10.



Tyler Starkey paced Graves County, 15-10, with 17 points.



The Marshals are at home against Murray at 6 p.m. tonight.
