She was a a retired tour guide with the Kentucky Department of Transportation at Whitehaven in Paducah., she was Dutchess of Paducah and a Kentucky Ambassador.
She is survived by one daughter, Terri Denise Salyer, Calvert City; one son, David Dale Thompson, Calvert City; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron Barefield and Lucy (Johnson) Barefield; her husband Larry Dale Thompson; two sisters, Thelma Lindsey and Pauline Ryan and two great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 29, in the Chapel of the Collier Funeral Home. Rev. Jeremy Short officiated. Interment followed in the Rosebower Cemetery, in Reidland.
