Lloyd Arthur Borders, 89, of Benton, died December 15, at Lourdes Hospital.

Mr. Borders received the Purple Heart for his service in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He was a self-employed contractor.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Loreen Peters Borders of Benton; 4 daughters, Charlene LaVail Pratt and Anita Loreen English both of Benton; Myra Jean VanBaale of Newton, Iowa and Glenda Loy Burback of Henderson, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ileen Ready and Ila Hanks and his parents, Luther Emil Borders and Jessie Jones Borders.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. (Today) December 20, at Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery West with Military Rites. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. December 20, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home & Crematory.
