BENTON– A Benton man accused of assaulting, raping and sodomizing a woman, entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment last week. He is also being charged with attempted fetal homicide as one of the victims of the alleged assault is his 15-week unborn child.

According to police reports, Andrew Tribbett, 27, restrained the pregnant victim in a bedroom, striking her in the face and stomach, and attempting to choke her. Tribbett also sexually assaulted the 24-year old victim with a flashlight.

Investigators believe the assault was an attempt to force the mother to miscarry.

The victim was admitted to Marshall County Hospital. An investigation was launched by the Kentucky State Police.

Bond was set at $250,000. Tribbett is scheduled to return to court tomorrow (Dec. 21) for a preliminary hearing.
