GRAVES COUNTY – A Marshall County woman was killed and her husband injured after a Friday morning collision near Mayfield.

On September 18, at 2:49 p.m. Kentucky State Police received a call of a collision with injuries on KY 1241 at Old Plant Road in Graves County. Upon arrival, State Troopers determined that there were two occupants in the vehicle, one deceased, and one with life threatening injuries.

Mayfield Fire Department and EMS were called to the scene with the jaws-of-life to free the injured occupant, Roger Henson, 25, of Hardin. Henson was transported to Lourdes Hospital by Mayfield Graves County EMS for treatment of serious injuries and later transfered to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

The deceased was identified as Heather Henson, 24, also of Hardin.

The initial investigation determined that Mr. Henson was driving he and his wife’s Pontiac Sunfire south on KY 1241 on sometime around 11 a.m. on Sept. 16. For unknown reasons, Mr. Henson allowed the car to cross the northbound lane and continue into a guard rail leading to a bridge on KY 1241 at Old Plant Road. His vehicle crossed the guard rail and rolled onto its roof. The vehicle continued sliding on its roof before going airborn and landing in the creek on its roof. The vehicle came to final rest out of sight of traffic from both KY 1241 and Old Plant Road.

The collision went unseen and unreported for more than two days before State Police were notified. Kentucky State Police were assisted on the scene by Mayfield Fire Department, Mayfield/ Graves County EMS, and the Graves County Coroner’s Office.
