She was retired from the Kentucky State Park system.
She is survived by her four grandchildren, Robert S. Carter of Calvert City, Hunter Thomas Carter of Calvert City, Kimberly Birdsong of Metropolis, Ill., and Sherry Lynn Risk of Charleston, W.Va. Two brothers, James Guffy, Saint Louis, Mo., and Everett Guffey, Saint Louis, Mo., also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Guffey and Nancy Gunn Guffey; her husband, Robert Raymond Houston; and one son, Robert Edward Carter.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011, in the Provine Cemetery, Benton, KY. Bro. Joel Frizzell will officiate. Interment will follow in the Provine Cemetery, Benton, Ky.
