William S. Bill Howard, 90, of Calvert City, died Thursday, September 1, at Calvert City Convalescent Center.

Mr. Howard retired as the maintenance manager for Airco Carbide. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II where he received the Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Irma Henson Howard of Calvert City; three sons, Ralph Howard of Calvert City, Ronald Howard of Gilbertsville, and Richard Howard of Benton; one daughter, Jan Howard Forman of Philadelphia, Miss., seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, five brothers, and his parents, William Stapelton “Stape” Howard and Nina Phelps Howard.

Funeral services were Sunday, September 4, at Filbeck-Cann & King Funeral Home and Crematory. Sam Forman and Jacob Howard officiated.
