Thomas “Tommy” Leon Laird, 79, of Benton died Sunday at his home.

He was of the Baptist faith and retired from the Kentucky State Highway Department. He worked as an electrician and a television repairman. He played in several country bands. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Laird; one daughter, Paula Laird of Mayfield; one son, Christopher Laird of Mayfield; two stepdaughters, Pam Blair of California and Randee Rudolph of Benton; two stepsons, Jim Mosley of Paducah and Michael Guess of Pulaski, Tenn.; one sister, Wanda Laird of Murray; and 16 grandchildren.

His parents were Paul and Fannie Odelia Green Laird.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Collier Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Thweatt officiating. Interment will be at Marshall County Memory Gardens in Benton.
