| Hodge, Rose named Post 236 coaches
Staff Report
CALVERT CITY American Legion Post 236’s baseball program has tentatively settled on new coaches for the 2008 season.
Justin Hodge and Jeremy Rose will likely be hired to lead the post’s senior and junior teams this summer.
Hodge has been a coach for Post 236 for six years, all of that time in charge of the junior team and the last five as assistant senior coach along with his father, former senior coach Billy Hodge, who will still assist the team. Justin also works with the St. Mary High School team as an assistant coach.
Rose has been involved in Marshall County sports in various ways over the years, most notably as the radio voice of Lady Marshal basketball, Marshal and Lady Marshal soccer and a sideline reporter for Marshal football as part of WCBL’s sports staff.
These hires are expected to be made official at the next Post 236 meeting on Feb. 16.
Tryouts for both teams will be held near the end of May with the season beginning in early June.
Junior state tournament in July this year: In an attempt to have more high schoolers ready to join fall sports teams at their school earlier, the state’s junior American Legion tournament will be held in July this year. The senior tournament is still scheduled for August.
