| Track season off and running

DRAFFENVILLE Marshall County High School hosted a track and field all-comers meet Thursday at the school.
The Lady Marshals came in first place in three separate events. Eighth-grader Tory Fehrenbacher came in first in the 400-meter run (1:05). Another eighth-grader Melanie McKendree won the 1600-meter run (5:56.20), and Katie Darnell vaulted seven feet to take home first in the pole vault.
The Marshals came in first in five events, with senior Brandon Walker winning two of the them the high jump with six feet and the long jump with 19 feet, 11 inches.
Ross Lampert came in first in the 800-meter run (2:10.10), the team won the 4x400 meter relay (3:47.10), and Andrew Johnston vaulted 11 feet, six inches to take home first in the pole vault.

Two days later, on Saturday, the track and field teams traveled to Henderson County to participate in the Colonel Classic.
The Lady Marshals came in second place overall with a score of 94 points.
The Marshals came in fourth place overall with a score of 61. Brandon Walker came in first place in the high jump (six feet).
