DRAFFENVILLE– Eighteen teams participated in Marshall County High School’s Twilight Relay track meet on Friday, a unique meet with various lengths of relays not normally run in a standard track meet. For instance, you wouldn’t think the hurdles could be a relay event but at the Twilight Relays it is. Each four man team has two hurdlers at one end of 100 meters and two at the other. As one hurdler crosses the line, the next member of the team takes off heading the opposite way on the hurdles. Marshall County’s boys 4 x 100 meter shuttle hurdles team came in third place. The longest event of the meet was the 4 x mile relay where each leg of the relay runs a mile before handing the baton off to the next runner. The boys 4 x mile relay team finished a respectable 7th out of 15 teams in that event. The Javelin Throw took place on the football field with 57 athletes participating. Sam Devore took first place for the Marshals with his throw of 137’5”. There were sprint medley and distance medley relays which made this track meet a fun event to watch.

All track athletes headed to Reed Conder Gymnasium during a storm delay for about thirty minutes then headed back out to the track to continue the meet which didn’t finish up until midnight.

Marshal’s girl’s team came in third overall behind first place Murray High and Fort Campbell in second. Fort Campbell boys also took first place, Daviess County second, Murray High third and Marshall County placed fourth in team standings.

Marshals runners will head to the campus of MSU tonight for a Fill the Lanes meet beginning at 5 p.m.
