DRAFFENVILLE–Marshall County baseball ended an era Monday night with the changing of the guard, at the annual baseball banquet.

Steve Barrett, the MCHS Dug-out Club president for the last two years, introduced the club’s new president, Michael Reese, to the crowd.

Barrett’s son Brantley graduated this year and will be playing at Mid-Continent College in the fall.

MCHS head coach Don Bock, who announced his retirement last month, said his goodbyes and recieved a picture of the senior class and a shiny new pocket watch as tokens of appreciation for 18 years of dedication and hard work.

Bock addressed the crowd and was full of humor throughout the evening.

Bock said his three priorities in life were God, family and baseball.

“Sometimes I get those priorities mixed up during the season,” Bock said.

“I should be able to do a better job keeping them straight, now that I am retiring.”

The “Magnificient Seven,” this year’s senior class, attended their last function as Marshall County Marshals and the entire class was awarded the MVP trophy for the record setting season.
