DRAFFENVILLE–The fourth annual Marshall County Magic Classic softball tournament was held at Mike Miller park last weekend and 28 teams from four states came to compete for trophies and bragging rights.

The tournament kicked off Friday and the championship games were played Sunday.

Tournnament director Trent Lovett, who started the Marshall County Magic teams with Ricky Denfip and Donny Rudolf eight years ago, said he was happy with the turn-out.

“The economy may have kept some of the teams who come from far away home but, all in all we are pleased with the number of competitors for this year’s tournament.”

“Thirty-two teams is the most we can hold here so we almost filled up the schedule.”

The Marshall County Magic U14 team won the tournament championship for their age group.

The Magic’s U16 and U10 teams won the runner-up spots for their division.

Said Lovett: “This is a great chance for our kids to compete against other travel teams, and we are looking foward to next year.”
