LOUISVILLE – Owsley Park on the campus of the University of Louisville was the site Saturday for the class 3A KHSAA State Track and Field Championships.

The Marshals were represented well. Brittany Martin had the best finish for the Marshals coming in 4th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.19. Lauren Miller, also running in the 100 meter hurdles, had a good race going until she tripped on the second to last hurdle. Miller got back up and still finished the race. “Needless to say she was very upset and disappointed”, said Coach Cory Westerfield.

Miller redeemed herself in the 300 meter hurdles placing 6th with a time of 48.50 while Martin finished 20th with a time of 51.05.

The girl’s 4 x 400 meter relay team made up of Kelsey Lawson, Melanie McKendree, Tory Fehrenbacher and Lauren Miller placed 12th with a time of 4:17.
Lena Bohannon was the only field event entry for the Marshals taking 13th in the shot put with a throw of 30’8.5”

A disappointed Sam Devore was unable to run at the state meet due to an ankle injury. Devore was slated to run the 300 meter hurdles and the 4 x 400 meter relay.

Greg Marriott finished 15th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:03.63. Mitchel Stelter’s time of 16.68 was good for 16th in the 110 meter hurdles.

Brandon Davis, Luke Rudd, Mitchel Stelter and Greg Marriott making up the 4 x 400 meter relay team finished 20th with a time of 3:41.59.

“I was pleased with how we did,” said Westerfield. “I know some of the girls were upset with their performances, but I thought we did well.”
