Orange Waves hit pool

MCCRACKEN COUNTY – Calvert City Country Club Orange Waves swim team competed in the Summer League Championship Meet at the Paducah Athletic Club Saturday. The Orange Waves won the meet over the teams from Murray, Paducah and Princeton.

The girls 14U and 18U medley relays took first as did the boys 14U and 18U medley teams. On the boys side Coleton Jones placed first in the 9-10 freestyle and breaststroke events. Second place finishes came from Paul Hudson in the 13-14 freestyle, John David Whirley in the 9-10 butterfly and breaststroke and Jones in the 9-10 backstroke events.

Sidney Jackson finished first in the girls 13-14 freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke events while teammate Carli Merrick placed first in the 13-14 backstroke. Second place finishes came from Lilly Goheen in the 6U freestyle and backstroke, Courtney Holder in the 8U freestyle, Merrick in the 13-14 freestyle and butterfly, Erika Darnell in the 18U freestyle and backstroke, Danielle Steele in the 8U backstroke, Alicia Miller in the 9-10 backstroke and Allie Pearson in the 13-14 backstroke and breaststroke.

The Orange Waves compete again tonight at home against the Marion, Kentucky swim team beginning at 5 p.m. at Calvert City Country Club.
