Team places third
at Murray Invitational

MURRAY–Coming off Christmas break with not as much time in the pool, the MCHS Swim Team placed third overall in the Murray Invitational at the MSU Wellness Center pool.

The girls came in third behind Lone Oak and Murray while the boys just missed first, coming in second just four points behind Murray.

Once again, strong performances by the boys and girls 200 and 400 yard freestyle relay teams. The girl’s 200 yard relay team of Sarah Telle, Jenna Goins, Erika Darnell and Sydney Beckett came in first and the same 400 yard relay team placed third.

The boy’s 200 yard relay team of Josh Gordon, Josh Tillson, Nick Forte and Cale Merrick came in third and the 400 yard relay team of Gordon, Merrick, Forte and Nolan Park came in first place.

Strong individual performances came from Josh Gordon, placing first in the 100 yard freestyle and second in the 100 yard breaststroke. Sydney Beckett had the best finishes at the meet for the girls coming in fourth in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events.

The Swim Team is in competition again this Saturday at The Best of the West swim meet at Bowling Green High School.
