MARSHALL COUNTYHomecoming didn’t quite turn out the way the Lady Marshals had hoped it would. The Lady Warriors and the Lady Marshals played the first quarter fairly evenly and the lead for the Lady Marshals at the end of the first quarter was by one point, 11-10.
CCA began the second quarter with a three pointer, taking the lead over Marshall County that they never lost the remainder of the game. CCA had a 24-15 lead with less than a minute in the second quarter when Margaret Thomas hits a three and draws the Lady Marshals to within six of CCA, 24-18. CCA’s next two field goals would be from the three point arc taking a 30-19 lead into the locker room at half.
CCA had their largest lead over the Lady Marshals in the third quarter of play, leading by 16 points, 41-25. Michaela Hunt’s three in the third drew Marshall County to within nine of CCA but found themselves trailing by 11 at the end of the quarter.
The Lady Marshals weren’t able to close the gap in the fourth quarter and lost to the Lady Warriors by a final score of 56-44.
Bonnie Durrett and Cari McMullen of CCA were a tough duo for the Lady Warriors scoring 44 of the team’s points between the two. Durrett had 14 of her team’s rebounds with 10 of those at the defensive end.
Kelsey Lawson led the Lady Marshals in scoring with 11 points and Michaela Hunt pulled down 10 rebounds on the night.
The Lady Marshal’s freshman, JV and Varsity squads will travel to Massac County High School tonight, and on Friday will face the Lady Eagles at Graves County High School.
The Lady Marshals record stands at 8-5.
