DRAFFENVILLE– In their last regular season game, the Lady Marshals hosted the girls team from Union County High School. Union County came into the game on Thursday with a 9-14 overall record boasting a notable win over Community Christian Academy who the Lady Marshals have lost to twice this season.

Union County took an early 11-6 lead that disintegrated by the end of the first quarter when the Marshals took the lead by a score of 17-13 after a Margaret Thomas lay in at the buzzer.

The Lady Marshals extended their lead over Union County in the second quarter by 10 going into the half with the score 31-21.

Keeping the pressure on in the third quarter, the Lady Marshals were up 40-31 heading into the final quarter of play.
Leading 44-35, Union County’s Tanner Fowler’s three point

shot chipped into the Lady Marshals lead. With under four minutes to play, the Lady Marshals lead was just four (48-44) over Union County. Several field goals from Lena Bohannon and teammates Tori Fehrenbacher and Kaylin Goins stretched the lead for the Lady Marshals back out to 53-46. Thomas dropped in two free throws to extend the lead to nine. A three by Union County’s Madison Dayberry as the final seconds ran off the clock closed the gap but the Lady Marshals could put this one in the win column by a final score of 55-49.

The Lady Marshals played the one seed Calloway County Lady Lakers yesterday in the first round of the District Tournament at Calloway County High School. Results were unavailable at press time. The winner of that contest will play the winner of the Community Christian Academy-Murray High game on Thursday at 6 p.m.
