Staff Report
DRAFFENVILLEMarshall County High School’s boys basketball team has extended their win streak to 8-0 this week in an impressive start to their 2009-2010 season. The boys recently captured the top prize in the Ohio County Eagle Classic by defeating the host team, Ohio County Eagles (see story on this page).
The Marshals will take their unblemished record to Panama City, Fla., this week to compete in the JR Arnold High School Marlin Classic. Their first game was held Monday prior to presstime.
Marshall County will look to defend last year’s run through the event.
The Marshals will be in action closer to home Jan. 2 when they travel to Calloway County to face the Lakers.
The Lady Marshals also extended their successful start last week. The girls finished the Ballard Memorial Lady Bomber Classic in fifth place with an 80-47 win over Logan County (see story on this page). The win improved the Lady Marshals to 7-3 on the season.
The Lady Marshals continue to have one of the stingiest defenses in the First Region, limiting opponents to an average 41 points per game.
The Lady Marshals will also be in action Jan. 2 at Calloway County. Their next home game will be Jan. 8 hosting Community Christian after traveling to Lone Oak Jan. 5.
