GRAVES CO.– The Lady Marshals extended their win streak to three with a 50-46 decision over Muhlenberg High School’s Lady Mustangs Friday.

Muhlenberg, entering the contest 3-1, got off to an early lead with a 3-point basket by freshman Aliah Fueller. Lena Bohannon cut the lead with a basket, but senior Meagan Sallee went to the stripe, htting 1-of-2 for the 4-2 advantage.

Marshall County’s Tory Fehrenbacher answered with a bucket to tie the game as the Lady Marshals scored eight unanswered points. The Lady Mustangs would get back into the contest, but trail 14-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Fueled by 3-point shooting from Kelsey Lawson and inside baskets by Margaret Thomas and Fehrenbacher, Marshall County maintained a seven point advantage through most of the second quarter, leading the game 29-22 at the half.

Muhlenberg would get within a point twice in the third quarter at 29-28 and 31-30, but the Lady Marshals matched them basket-for-basket over the final four minutes to hold onto a 34-32 advantage heading into the final frame.

Marshall County started the fourth quarter strong with baskets by Michaela Hunt and Bohannon, climbing to 38-32. The Lady Mustangs played an aggressive final quarter, getting as close as 47-46 with a minute remaining. But a 2-point basket by Bohannon and 1-of-2 from Thomas at the line was enough to secure the 50-46 win.

The Lady Marshals will host Murray Thursday.
