anniversary: Ross
Arlie and Joetta Ross of Okechobee Fl. formerly of Benton celebrated their 50th anniversary on Feb. 15.
They were married on Feb. 15, 1958 in Kansas Miss.
Mrs. Ross, the former Joetta Ray, is the daughter of the late J.B. Mutt and Myrtle Ray of Benton.
Mr. Ross is the son of the late Arlie K. and Novaline Ross of Benton.
Mr. Ross is a retired construction operator.
They have two children, Carla Griggs and Randy Ross both of Benton.
They have four grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.
The celebration will be on Monday March 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walnut St. Baptist Church on Walnut St. in Benton.
All friends and family are invited.
anniversary: Phelps
Jimmie and Marilyn Phelps of Benton will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
The couple were married on April 6, 1958 at the home of Lake Riley who officiated the ceremony. Their attendants were Martena Freeman and Travis Dawes.
Mrs. Phelps is a homemaker and the daughter of the late Brooks and Kathryn Smith of Brewers. Mr. Phelps is a retired mechanic with Air Products of Calvert City and the son of the late George (Moss) and Hallie Phelps of Benton.
They have three daughters, Pat McKinney of Paducah, Pam Thompson of Benton and Paula Boling of Calvert City. They have five grandchildren.
Their children will be celebrating their parent’s anniversary with a reception from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 at the Palma Fire Station on Highway 95. All family and friends are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts.
Anniversary: Watkins
Glenn and Norma Watkins of Benton celebrated their 50th anniversary on March 1.
They were married on March 1, 1958 in Benton.
Their children are Hal Watkins of Lyon County and Todd Watkins of Benton.
They celebrated with friends and family at Patti’s in Grand Rivers on March 1.

James (Luke) and Tanya (Cox) Riley of Benton announce the birth of their son Anderson C. Riley on March 7 at Western Baptist Hospital.
Grandparents are Phil and Madonna Beal of Golconda, Ill. and John and the late Maybell Riley of Benton.
Great-grandparent is Freda Eller of Flora, Ind.

Brian and Kaycee (Andrews) York were united in marriage on September 15, 2007 at Zion’s Cause Baptist Church in Palma. Dennis Foust of Calvert City officiated.
Parents of the bride are Gerald (Buddy) and Marjorie Andrews of Ruston, La. Parents of the groom are Randy and Ellen York of Benton.
Grandparents of the bride are Mittie Andrews and the late C.W. Andrews of Bernice, La. and Julie Mullican and the late A.M. Mullican Jr. of Baskin, La.
Grandparents of the groom are the late Paul and Maybelle York of Benton and Gerald and Nancy Maupin of Benton.
The bride chose Jackie Woolfolk, sister of the bride, as her matron of honor and Karen Burkeen, Kim Ashey, and Ashley Henson as her bridesmaids. The groom chose Mickey Ford as his best man and Warren King, J.T. Jones and Blake York, brother of the groom, as his groomsmen. The flower girl was Sydney Reed. The ring bearer was Eli Jones. Guest registers were Amy Hardy, Leslie Dunigan, Brittany King, and Beth Campbell. Brett Sorrells was an usher. Music was provided by Mike Munsell.
A reception followed the ceremony in the church gymnasium. After a honeymoon in Palm Beach, Fl., the couple resides in Benton.
