Helen Mayo
Services for Helen D. Mayo, 84, of Paducah, were held on Tuesday, June 30, at Milner and Orr Funeral Home.
The Revs. Harold Council, Jimmy Franks and Charlie Simmons officiated, followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Paducah.
Ms. Mayo died at 12:19 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Western Baptist Hospital. She was a member of Southland Baptist Temple, Eastern Star and retired from CTS/Magnavox.
She is survived by one daughter, Gwen Edwards of Calvert City; one step-daughter, Patricia Courtney of Paducah; one son, Timmy Mayo of Smith Grove; one step-son, Jerry Mayo of Calvert City; one sister, Roma Simmons of Mayfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, LeRoy Cargill; second husband, Delmus Mayo; and two sisters.
Her parents were Grenville and Florence Riley.

Julia Epley
Services for Julia Dee Epley, 80, of Calvert City, were held on Tuesday, June 30 at Collier Funeral Home.
Dr. J.T. Parish officiated, followed by burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City.
Ms. Epley died on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at her residence. She was a member of Christian Fellowship Church.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer Epley of Calvert City; one son, Roger Epley of Howell, Mich.; four sisters, Jenny Patterson of Little Rock, Calif., Lucille Vick of Colombia, Tenn., Wanda McPherson of Bremen and Raynell Walker of Belton; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Her parents were Robert and Dorothy Bekher.

Edger Dugger
Services for Edger “Eddie” Dugger, 49, formerly of Calvert City, were held on Thursday, June 25 at Forest Grove Christian Church in Winchester.
Mr. Dugger died on Monday, June 22, at Markey Cancer Center. He worked at the University of Kentucky Medical Center warehouse, had received a degree in architecture and was in the process of earning a second degree.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Dugger of Winchester; one son, Dustin Dugger; one sister, Vicki Dugger; two grandchildren, Savannah and Landon Dugger; many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
His parents are Ruth and Doyle Dugger.

Pearle Scillion
Services for Pearle Bridges Scillion, 87, of Benton, were held on Sunday, June 28 at Filbeck-Cann and King Funeral Home.
The Revs. Roy Brown and Darvin Stom officiated, followed by burial in Dees Cemetery.
Ms. Scillion died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Calvert City Convalescent Center. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, a member of the Calvert City VFW and DAV and worked for several years at Dr. Lyles Optometry.
She is survived by one son, Mike Scillion of Gilbertsville; three daughters, Renee Ray of Calvert City, Jean Darnell of Gilbertsville and Margaret Ann Maddox of Benton; one brother, Harry Bridges of Benton; one sister, Loraine Forsythe of Benton; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Scillion; three sisters, Minnie Boatright, Louise Gray and Anna Mitchell; and two brothers, Randall and Hayes Bridges.
Her parents were Willie and Sarah Bridges.

Geraldine Brown
Services for Geraldine Ann Brown, 69, of Benton, were held on Thursday, June 25 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Aurora.
Father Babu Kulathumkal officiated, followed by burial in Horn Cemetery in Benton.
Ms. Brown died at 10:06 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2009, at her residence. She was retired from Kenlake State Resort Park and a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Hackney of Almo and Debra Bell of Benton; one son, Marc Brown of Benton; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Brown; and her mother, Anna Zlebacic.

Berlene Hester
Services for Berlene Hester, 93, formerly of Fairdealing, were held on Wednesday, June 24 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home.
The Rev. Steve Spitzer officiated, followed by burial in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Hester died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Superior Care in Paducah. She was a member of Olive Baptist Church, the former owner of Little Castle Restaurant in Paducah and Hester’s Spot in the Sun Resort on Kentucky Lake.
She is survived by one sister, Nell Hynds of Martin, Tenn.; one brother, William Brewer of Bluffton, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hester; one sister, Sue Gholson; and three brothers, Tom, Pat and Robert Brewer.
Her parents were William and Opal Brewer.

Ben Devine
Services for Ben Devine, 39, of Calvert City, were held on Wednesday, June 24 at Filbeck-Cann and King Funeral Home.
The Rev. Johnny Coffenberry officiated.
Mr. Devine died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, in Benton.
He was a certified mechanic and journeyman painter.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Edwards of Calvert City; one son, Colton Devine of Calvert City; step-daughter, Kayce Jamison of Calvert City; step-granddaughter, Aila Penrod of Calvert City; mother, Louise Devine of Calvert City; sister, Cleta Benningfield of Murray; in-laws, Terry and Patsy Edwards of Grand Rivers and Vyra and Glen Campbell of Symsonia; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey “Bubby” Devine; and one sister, Angela Devine.

Louis Roof
Services for Louis Roof, 71, of the St. John Community, were held on Monday, June 29 at St. John’s Catholic Church.
Fathers Frank Roof and Tom Buckman officiated, followed by burial in St. John’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
Mr. Roof died on Friday, June 26, 2009, at Lourdes Hospital. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and was named Duke of Paducah and Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Roof of the St. John Community; three daughters, Brenda Garnder of Symsonia, Teresa Wheat of St. John’s community and Kimberly Kesterson of Louisville; eight brothers, Adrian, Gerald, Phillip, Paul, Frank, Charlie, David and Eugene Roof, all of Paducah; one sister, Mary McLaughlin of Mechanicsville, Va.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Roof.
His parents were Sylvester and Elizabeth Roof.

Pamela White
Services for Pamela Sue Hogan White, 57, of the Grahamville community, were held on Tuesday, June 30 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home.
The Rev. Russell Hines officiated.
Ms. White died on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at her residence. She was a member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, and employee of Pilot on Cairo Road and former owner of Calendars Unlimited.
She is survived by her husband, James White of the Grahamville Community; one son, William White; three brothers, Ron Hogan of Irvine, Calif., Mike Hogan of Grand Prairie, Texas and Steve Hogan of Martin, Tenn.; two sisters, Beverly Hogan and Patty Murphy, both of Marshall County; five nieces, seven nephews; four great-nieces and four great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Phillip Hogan.
Her parents were James and Anita Hogan.

Joseph Johnston
Services for Joseph Preston “J.P.” Johnston, 81, of Calvert City, were held on Monday, June 29 at Collier Funeral Home.
The Rev. Roger Rice and Elder Robert Chandler officiated, followed by burial in Marshall County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Johnston died at 2:53 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Western Baptist Hospital. He was retired from Shawnee Steam Plant and Laborers Local No. 1214. He was a member of Altona Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Johnston of Calvert City; two sons, Mike and Jeff Johnston, both of Benton; step-son, Joe Rose of Benton; five grandchildren, Jody Rose, Jamie Johnston and Amy Johnston, all of Benton, Christy Dyer of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Kelly Maddox of Calvert City; and one sister, Louise Coyne of Saint Peters, Mo.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harrison, Henry and Gene Johnston; and one grandchild, Jeremy Johnston.
His parents were Rollie and Beulah Johnston.

Judith Clark
Services for Judith Clark, 64, formerly of Benton, were held on Friday, June 26 at Collier Funeral Home.
The Rev. Bruce Watts officiated, followed by burial in Salyers Cemetery.
Ms. Clark died on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Alive Hospice in Old Hickory, Tenn.
She is survived by one son, Robert Clark of Old Hickory, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Ryan Humphreys and McKinley Clark, both of Old Hickory, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Jimmy and Turby Dick-Dec.
Her parents were Charles Dick and Lucille Puckett.

Freddie Salyers
Services for Freddie Salyers, 68, of Calvert City, were held on Saturday, June 27 at Collier Funeral Home.
The Rev. Roger Rice officiated, followed by burial in Salyers Cemetery.
Mr. Salyers died on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at his residence. He was of the Baptist faith, a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Trimac Trucking.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Salyers of Calvert City; one daughter, Vicki Bloodworth of Calvert City; one sister, Dorthea Willet of Doraville, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Donnie and Thomas Heath and Tyler Bloodworth, all of Calvert City.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Salyers.
His parents were Virgil and Ruby Salyers.

Robert Metcalfe
Services for Robert Earl “Bob” Metcalfe, 78, formerly of Marshall County, were held on Sunday, June 28 at Calhoun Baptist Church in Calhoun.
The Rev. Tony St. Clair and Dr. Richard Sams officiated.
Mr. Metcalfe died on Monday, June 22, 2009, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehab Center in Owensboro. He was an environmentalist for the McLean County Area Health Department, a U.S. Army veteran and a deacon of Calhoun Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Metcalfe of Calhoun; two daughters, Dede Foreman of Owensboro and Jackie Garcia of Fort Collins, Colo.; one son, Todd Metcalfe of Bowling Green; one brother, Billy Joe Metcalfe of Marshall County; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lena Metcalfe.

Danny Lane
Services for Danny Keith Lane, 52, of Benton, were held on Wednesday, June 17 at Collier Funeral Home.

Mr. Lane died on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. He was retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation and a member of Vanzora Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Lane of Benton; one son, Chris Lane of Benton; one daughter, Jennifer Blackwell of Paducah; mother, Ladon Cobb of Smithland; one brother, Michael Lane of Benton; two half-sisters, Jeanne York of Benton, Deneice Rowland of Aurora; and two grandchildren, Kelcie Thompson and Stone Blackwell, both of Paducah.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Lane; grandmother, AvaLou Brooks; great uncle, James Tyree; and one son, Michael Davis Lane.

Stanley Sutton
Services for Stanley N. Sutton, 51, of Calvert City, were held on Wednesday, June 24 at Filbeck-Cann and King Funeral Home.

Mr. Sutton died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was a truck driver for JMS Metal Service.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Sutton of Calvert City; one son, Stanley Sutton of Calvert City; one daughter, Stacey Dove of Ledbetter; two step-daughters, Regina Kearney of Cairo, Ill. and Angie Roberts of Calvert City; mother, Shirley Boaz Sutton of Benton; two sisters, Carol Smith of Benton and Debbie Cooper of Sikeston, Mo.; two brothers, Danny Sutton of Benton and Mike Sutton of Hickory; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.P. Sutton.
