| Couple arrested in late-night drug bust

BENTON Just before 11 p.m. Jan. 14, an investigation by the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force and Marshall County Sheriff’s Office culminated in the execution of a search warrant on Old Olive road east of Benton.
Officers of the Marshall County Special Response Team made entry into the home and placed Robyn M. Callihan, 25, of Benton, and Bradley D. Thompson, 33, of Benton, into custody in order for the investigators to conduct the search.
Detectives attached to the task force from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, Murray Police Department, and Graves County Sheriff’s Office conducted the search along with a task force K-9 from Calloway County.
As a result of the items found in the search bags of marijuana, digital scales, meth, marijuana pipes, glass meth pipes, cut straws, lortab, klonopin, valium, and firearms and the investigation leading to the warrant, Callihan and Thompson were arrested and charged by Detective Kevin Mighell of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office as follows:
Callihan was charged with trafficking in marijuana less than 8 oz, three counts possession of controlled substance (third degree for Valium and Xanax and first degree for Methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Thompson was charged with possession of controlled substance (second and third degree for Methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana less than 8 oz and possession of drug paraphernalia. All charges were firearm enhanced.
Both suspects were lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center just after midnight.
