MURRAY – The Marshall County Special Response Team received notification Jan. 30 from the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department that they were needed to provide assistance in apprehending a suspect wanted for murder.

The team responded along with members of the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, Murray Police Department and Probation and Parole.

It had been confirmed by Lt. Samantha Mighell of the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office that Peggy Joe (P.J.) Turner, 37, who was wanted in connection with a murder which occurred in Alabama, was living at the residence located at 12793 State Route 94 East in Murray.

SRT snipers moved in and provided surveillance on the residence while the rest of the team held back some five miles from the location. Tense moments ensued as one of the suspects being monitored pulled a shotgun from his vehicle and began walking toward the wood-line where the snipers were in place.

The suspect walked toward the two well-concealed officers before deciding his concern was unfounded, turning back and heading toward his house. It was another two hours before officers made a positive ID on the murder suspect. Snipers radioed in the rest of the SRT to make the apprehension of Turner.

Detectives with the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force assisted Probation and Parole with a search of the residence where they located methamphetamine, several items of drug paraphernalia, and a 12-gauge shotgun.

Two of the other subjects who were located at the residence were also on active parole for separate drug charges. Peggy Turner was arrested and charged with: Fugitive from Justice (Alabama), first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense; methamphetamine (firearm enhanced) and possession of drug paraphernalia, first offense (firearm enhanced).

Michael O. Glover, 31, who was also a resident at the location, was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine (firearm enhanced); possession of drug paraphernalia, (firearm enhanced) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was served with a parole violation detainer. Jason K. Wilson, 31, of Eddyville, was arrested and served with a parole violation detainer. Detectives also detained Austin Lee Ford, 19, of Calvert City. Investigators searched Ford’s residence in Calvert City and located methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Ford was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ford was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. All others were lodged at the Calloway County Jail.
