HARDIN – Tragedy struck last Friday evening after a fatal automobile collision claimed the lives of two local residents and left another in critical condition.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Nathan Maxlow responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of KY 1949 and KY 402 shortly after 4 p.m.

Maxlow’s report stated a motor vehicle operated by Steven D. Henderson, 40 of Hardin, was attempting to execute a left hand turn from KY 1949 onto KY 402 eastbound. Henderson’s vehicle was struck by a vehicle operated by Roy N. Youngblood, 48 of Benton, which was traveling westbound on KY 402.

Kimberly M. Morris, a passenger in Henderson’s vehicle and Youngblood were both pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision.

Henderson was transported via Marshall County Ambulance to Murray Calloway County Hospital and later transported via air medical support to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. for treatment of his injuries.

The last known report on Henderson’s condition indicated he was in stable, but critical condition. Authorities say it is unclear at this time if any charges will be filed.

Deputy Maxlow was assisted at the scene by Deputy Mark Balentine, Marshall County Ambulance Service, and Hardin South Marshall Fire Department.
