CALVERT CITY A Nashville, Tenn. man has been arrested following an incident at Kentucky Lake Trailer Sales in Calvert City last Monday.
According to a Calvert City Police report issued by Chief David Elliott, owner Teddy Wynn called to report James had been discovered on the lot of his establishment prior to the 8 a.m. opening of regular store hours. James had reportedly gotten his Range Rover stuck in mud in the back lot.
Upon arrival, Elliott reported James had told him he’d given an unidentified subject a ride to a Calvert City motel and hefailed to reimburse him for the cost of gasoline, resulting in an altercation between the two.
According to Elliott’s report, James said he left the fight and went to Love’s Truck Stop, however the subject followed him. James reportedly drove to Kentucky Lake Trailer Sales in an attempt to hide from the subject and entered the lot by removing the lock with a set of bolt cutters.
Upon entering the lot, James’ said his vehicle had gotten stuck, and he could go no further. He was still on the premises when staff members Dean and Danny York arrived to open the store.
“He waited until they came in to open the store to come in and ask for help getting out,” Wynn said. “He said, ‘I’ve got a chain; if one of ya’ll could help pull me out, I’ll be gone.’”
Wynn said store cameras had put James on the lot since approximately 5 a.m.
Elliott reported questioning the suspect as to why he chose to cut the locks to enter the property, as opposed to calling 911, to which he had no response.
Elliott arrested James at the scene on charges of third degree criminal mischief, second degree criminal trespass, failure to provide proof of insurance and operating on a suspended driver’s license.
James was taken to the Marshall County Detention Center where he was later released on a $750 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear for arraignment at 1 p.m. Monday, March 8 in Marshall County District Court.
