MARSHALL COUNTY A Nortonville teen was charged with drug trafficking Wednesday after officers found half a pound of marijuana in his vehicle.
Marshall County Sheriff’s deputy Steven Oakley initiated a traffic stop along U.S. 641 after observing a vehicle with only one functioning headlight. The vehicle was driven by Joshua D. Bean, 19, of Nortonville.
Oakley cited Bean for the missing headlight and for failure to notify the Department of Transportation of an address change.
After further investigation, Oakley found a half pound of marijuana under the hood of the vehicle, bundled and wrapped in duct tape. Bean was charged with trafficking in marijuana, 8 ounces to 5 pounds, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bean was also charged with felony custodial interference after it was discovered a juvenile in the car did not have permission to be there.
“The custodial interference charge involved a female juvenile with the suspect,” Chief Deputy David Maddox said via release. “A check with the child’s guardian indicated that the juvenile had no permission to be with (Bean) and had not returned home after school.”
