PALMA A Marshall County woman remains hospitalized following a deadly crash on U.S. 68 Saturday.
According to police reports, at approximately 11:08 a.m. Deputy Nathan Maxlow investigated the crash on U.S. 68 in Palma. Russell Rose, 45, of Benton, was traveling eastbound when his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a vehicle driven by Joan Helms, 70, also of Benton, head on.
Marshall County Coroner Mitchell Lee declared Rose dead at the scene.
Helms was transported by Marshall County EMS to Western Baptist Hospital. The investigation is continuing by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office.
Deputy Robert Johnson, Marshall County EMS, Palma Briensburg Fire Department, Possum Trot Sharpe Fire Department, Marshall County Coroner Mitchell Lee, Deputy Coroner Carl Curtner, and Deputy Coroner Barry Taylor, assisted Deputy Maxlow.
