BENTON A joint investigation between the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force Detective Don Tidwell and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department has led to the arrest of two Benton residents for cultivating more than 150 marijuana plants.
Forty-six year-old Mark A. Henson and Terri M. Shade, 33, were arrested Saturday night after detectives discovered a marijuana-growing operation while serving a search warrant at their residence, located at 2305 Olive-Hamlett Rd. in Benton.
According to police reports, officers on scene found marijuana in every stage, from seeds to finished product.
Both Henson and Shade were charged with cultivating marijuana, more than five plants, trafficking in marijuana, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Henson told investigators he has not been employed since 2003.
Detectives estimate the street value of the confiscated marijuana to be more than $70,000.
Mushrooms were also found being cultivated in the residence, as well. Detectives say additional charges are forthcoming.
