William “Buddy” Rose, 80, of Puryear, formerly of Marshall County, died Saturday at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

He was a retired Vietnam veteran and U.S. Air Force firefighter after 22 years of service, retired from Fisher-Price Co. after 19 years, a cattle producer, and member of Trace Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Rose is survived by his wife, Martha Carter Rose; one son, Todd Rose of Puryear; two daughters, Gale Rose of Mount Sterling, and Kathy Rose of Murray; two stepdaughters, Debra Brodsky of Arkadelphia, Ark., and Dana Riley of Mayfield; one brother, Rev. Aubert Rose Jr. of Benton; two sisters, Ethel Mae Handrick and Barbara Locke, both of Benton; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Aubert “Bud” Sr. and Sophia Meyer Rose; and a brother.

Services were held Monday at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield. The Rev. Ronnie Stinson Sr. officiated. Interment followed in Highland Park Cemetery.
